More about the Queen's birthday gift from her husband:

The Queen is wearing a gold and turquoise necklace which is a birthday gift from Prince Henrik.

The necklace matches the brooch and earrings given to the Queen by the Prince Concert for her 60th and 70th birthdays.

The website of goldsmith Torben Hardenberg states that HM the Queen and HRH the Prince Consort have for years been faithful collectors of Hardenberg's work.

In this BT article Hardenberg talks about the brooch and earrings he made with turquoise the Prince Consort had bought in Egypt.

He says the necklace is an older piece, found by the Prince Consort. So it is not his work.
