Here's an interesting article from DR about the broader benefits of a State Visit.

http://www.dr.dk/nyheder/indland/dansk-industri-et-statsbesoeg-har-stor-vaerdi-danmark

"Danish Industry: A State Visit is of great value for Denmark"

My own summary [g]:

DR spoke to Danish Industry marketing manager, Jens Holst-Nielsen, who made some relevant points.

- The Mexican State Visit is much more than gala dresses and photo opportunities. It is of great importance for Danish companies.

- It is not only the President and his wife who come to visit, but also a delegation with several government ministers and representatives of 20 Mexican companies.

- A State Visit like this raises awareness and visibility for Denmark. Denmark is a small country, but here we have the opportunity to inspire with Danish social models, new contacts and provide insight into Danish technological solutions.

- Mexico has a population of over 120 million, and it is a market with great potential. As the most rapidly growing economy in South America, with growth close to three percent per year, it is a very interesting market for Danish companies to enter.

At today's business conference with the Confederation of Danish Industries, there will be presentations and round tables, where Danish companies present their visions and products to the Mexican delegation. It is also attended by several Mexican Ministers and the Danish Energy-Supply and Climate Minister, Lars Chr. Lilleholt (V) participates. Jens Holst-Nielsen had this to say:

- It has a very great value that the Crown Prince and the President come here. The Crown Prince's participation is a public recognition of the Danish firms.

- This is where the seeds of future possible agreements between the two countries should be sown.
- The effects of the State Visit will not be readable in the statistics here and now. It is about creating long-term relationships and reinforcing the relationships that are in place. Eventually, Danish companies will undoubtedly be stronger in a strong country such as Mexico.
In 2008, the Queen and Prince Henrik made a State Visit to Mexico. 32 Danish companies participated in the visit.
Then in 2013, when the Crown Princely Couple led a business delegation to Mexico, the number of Danish companies had grown to 51.
- The two visits with the Royals at the head has undoubtedly affected Danish exports to Mexico. The fine match between the Danish solutions and the needs of Mexico as a growth economy is crucial. Danish exports to the country grew faster than in the countries known as EU15, (that is, the 15 original EU member states).
- Denmark's exports to Mexico have quadrupled, whereas they just over doubled in the other EU15 countries, says the DI-market manager.
These export areas are of maximum relevance to the Mexican market:
Energy technology
Healthcare Solutions
Equipment and ingredients for food production

Any video on YouTube from the visit to Kokkedal? Curious to learn how CPM presents "Fri for Mobberi" and what misses Rivera thinks of the concept

Hi Poul. No luck so far. There may be something on the evening news tonight.

I am also wondering what was presented today. If I remember correctly, the program has educational material developed to be age-appropriate through several stages of childhood and young adulthood. Depending how curious you are, the Mary Foundation may be able to help.

Edit:

BB article

http://www.billedbladet.dk/kongelige/danmark/kronprinsparret-i-lego-skole-med-mexicos-praesidentpar

about the afternoon visit at Tjørnegaard School, where the focus was on the use of LEGO in education to make mathematics lessons more fun, more creative and enhance the students' memory.

The Mexican Presidential couple and Crown Princely couple have a total of 10 children between them, so are very familiar with LEGO.

The visitors were particularly impressed by the year 5. classes work with programming of Lego robots in mathematics lessons.

The Mexican President has just received a large LEGO donation to the state-owned kindergartens in his country.

BT overview of information released from the Denmark's State Department today

(after the business consortium and the Mexican President's meetings with the Prime Minister):

Diabetes, human rights and Lego bricks are among the topics with which Denmark will cooperate with Mexico.
Copenhagen: In total there are eight agreements in connection with the Mexican state visit, said the Prime Minister.
* Health and the Elderly Ministry, including a strategic sector cooperation with Mexico's Ministry of Health, with a focus on primary care.
* Denmark to participate in a program for Mexican health professionals who need to better diagnose and treat diabetes. The agreement covers Mexico's Ministry of Health and, from Denmark, the Copenhagen University and Odense University Hospital.
* Institute for Human Rights and the Mexican interior ministry to enter into a Collaboration Agreement for Mexico's efforts to develop a national program to promote respect within the business sector, for human rights in Mexico.
* The Danish and Mexican energy ministers will sign a letter that will support the implementation of the existing Danish-Mexican climate and energy program.
* A broad cooperation agreement between the Danish and Mexican medical pharmaceutical agencies is expected to be signed. The aim is to promote mutual cooperation on drug safety. The agreement is estimated to be of Danish commercial interest.
* Two agreements on export and investment promotion, and reinsurance in connection with export credits signed in connection with a business conference with Danish Industry.
* An agreement on a major donation of Lego bricks and skills enhancement for kindergartens to be signed Thursday afternoon.

Does anyone else think this skirt is cut down from the gown which Mary wore in NYC many years ago (can't quite think of the year -- definitely before the Twins!) I think it may have been for a Scandinavian-USA dinner or perhaps for a Danish Cultural Ministry visit???

:pinkheartthud:

Sometimes I can't decide who is luckier: Fred to have Mary, or Mary to have Fred. They are a great couple and complement each other very well.

Do you mean that Heartmade dress? I think, it is different, this Ganni skirt and black top was seen last year (INDEX Award):

I don't recall the designer. But it was a black top with a skirt that had short train. I can still see her walking into a New York City hotel for he event ... just can't recall which event!

I think you mean this one from their creative nation trip back in 2007?

If the answer is yes, then I don't think it is the same one. As you can see, the New York skirt is scaly and is silver/metallic in color. Yesterday's skirt was a printed skirt identified as being from Ganni. The silvery skirt is a Marlene Birger creation, I think:
