The list of the Crown Prince's attendance at State Councils is not complete and covers only the last five years.  

Information collected from Danish public sources shows that the Crown Prince's attendance at State Councils is rarely acknowledged in the officially published calendar.

Christian VII's palace, Amalienborg.

 

 

The State Council dinner for the members of the State Council is only the fourth held during the past 17 years.
Members of the State Council are: Queen Margrethe, Crown Prince Frederik, the PM of Denmark and all government ministers.

This time, the Queen also invited Crown Princess Mary, some employees of the court and a State Secretary from the PM's office.

A bit OT, but a personal report from Copenhagen today:

 

Crown Prince Frederik spotted leaving Frederik 8. Palace sitting on the back seat of a car heading towards Christiansborg. I think he was looking

down at his mobile but I have now seen him in real life. Dark, good loking, wearing a suit. They drive way too fast annoying people like

me who wants to see them drive by...

 

The gates at Fred 8., the car + the PET car drive out of the palace very quickly! If you happen to look in the wrong direction, you miss it.

Or, if you happen to stare at your mobile and take selfies (like all the Chinese did)...Most of the people didn't even notice who it was in the car.

Or even the car leaving.

 

Half an hour before change of guard, another car drove out of Fred 8. I didn't catch the passenger but I heard some local teenagers say it was Mary.

After 12, obviously when the State Council was over, QM and a PET car drove in at her place. Very quickly again. I wouldn't have noticed the car at all

if one of the police hadn't yelled something when the car approached.

The Council of State is chaired by the sovereign, the council comprises all cabinet ministers and the Crown Prince (or hereditary princess when he or she is of age).

"At today’s Council of State, Her Majesty The Queen got approval so that Her Royal Highness The Crown Princess can function as regent, starting today.

 

During the Council of State, The Crown Princess thus signed the necessary declaration about acting in conformity with the Constitution in the presence of The Queen, His Royal Highness The Crown Prince and the government.

 

As regent, The Crown Princess will, from now on, be able to attend to The Queen’s duties as head of state when The Queen and The Crown Prince are prevented from doing so, for example during a stay abroad. Today, The Queen’s duties can be handled by The Crown Prince as regent or by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Joachim and Princess Benedikte as regents."

As we know, the Crown Prince is the first "in line" to act as regent when Queen Margrethe is abroad, if he is not available, also abroad,

the next one has been Prince Joachim or Princess Benedikte.

With Prince Joachim now in France, Crown Princess Mary can from now on also stand is as rigsforstander.

"Following the 1953 Constitution, the Council of State consists of the king, the ministers and the successor to the throne if he is 18 years of age."

 

There are several tweets and articles which say that Crown Princess Mary today became member of the State Council which is not correct.

Mary was attending to be appointed rigsforstander. The only ones that are members of the State Council are QM and the Crown Prince. And Prince Christian later.
