This gives an idea as to what this yearly "party", celebration is about. The first two hours sound pretty boring...

Crown Prince Frederik attended this last year as well and the Regent couple in 2015.

"28 April we open the doors for the traditional yearly party at DTU. You will get the chance to find your dressiest shoes,

shirts or dress and see if they still fit. There will be dancing, fine dining and all the things that make the “Årsfest” one of the highlights

of the year here at DTU.

Menu:

Starter:
Danish salt-cured ham served with roasted almonds, vinegar, mayonnaise, crisp Vesterhavsost (semi-hard Danish cheese) and wood sorrel.

Served with Sauvignon Blanc.

Main course:
Chicken ballotine with lovage and lardon , served with chicken gravy with tapioca, potato pie with radishes, spring onions and pesto potatoes.

Served with a Californian Zinfandel.

Vanilla panna cotta.

Sounds like the Crown Prince and Minister stayed only for the academic (boring) part with lots of speeches and didn't even get dinner?...

"At the end of the red carpet, DTU's Rector Anders Bjarklev, President Rasmus Larsen and Student Chairman Mette Bybjerg Brock, could this year welcome both

H.R.H. the Crown Prince and Minister of Education and Research Søren Pind. They participated in the academic part of the party, where there was room for both concern about the future of the universities and celebration of Danish as well as international people for their special contributions  to DTU's

research, teaching, innovation and counseling.
After the academic part, the party continued for students, employees and specially invited with dinner and ball"
