The Mary Foundation

Recommended Posts

Today is the International Day for the End of Violence Against Women.

For the next 16 days, organizations around the world are focusing on gender-based violence with #orangetheworld.

In Denmark, approximately 38.000 women every year experience physical violence in Denmark, and according to figures from VIVE, almost 4 out of 100 women have been exposed to mental violence from a current or former partner within a year.
At The Mary Foundation we work to break the taboo around domestic violence, prevent violence and support the victim to a life free of violence.
If we want to fight domestic violence, we must talk about violence and fight guilt and shame and motivate witnesses and relatives to act on what they see and experience.

About new project 'Lift'

https://www.maryfonden.dk/nyt-ambitioest-initiativ-skal-bekaempe-ensomhed-blandt-unge/

In order to combat loneliness among young people, the Mary Foundation has taken the lead in a new and ambitious initiative that works holistically. As a first step, the initiative must ensure that young people who feel lonely but do not seek help themselves are found. Next, the young people must be guided on to a relevant offer or community, depending on what the individual young person needs. Last but not least, the initiative must help young people move into lasting communities and contribute to the established leisure communities becoming better at accommodating young people who feel lonely.

Everyone can need a lift

The initiative has been named Lift and will initially be tested and rolled out in three municipalities in collaboration with local volunteer centres, Ventilen, DGI, DEFACTUM and the Danish Center for Mindfulness at Aarhus University.

Video from the Mary Foundation, with Mary at the end.

"What are you going to do?
If a bruise is ignored? If you hear your neighbour's violent arguments? 🗯️📢
👉 Watch the video to the end and hear the important message.
35% of Danes have witnessed partner violence, but only 1 in 3 reaches out. Not out of will, but rather a lack of courage or knowledge of what one can do to help.
At www.stoppartnervold.nu you get concrete advice on what you can do if you know someone who is exposed to or practices violence."

Short video

Greetings from the children at the crisis centre 💌

Every year 2000 children comes to a crisis centre with their mother. Often the children have nothing with them.
That's why the Mary Foundation, together with Ole Kirk's Foundation and @lokk.dk hand out backpacks with among other things clothes,

toys and books for the children.

In the backpack there is a postcard, where the children can send a greeting back to H.R.H. The Crown Princess and the Mary Foundation.

Well-being and children's communities have come up on the agenda in France. We are happy and proud that France shows great interest in the work that educators and teachers in Denmark do with Free of Bullying, Fri for Mobberi, in its French version, Vivre Ensemble, is being pilot tested in Paris and recently French TV carried this feature about what Free of Bullying is all about. Together with Save the Children, we support the spreading of Free of  Bullying to other countries, and France is the latest country to join.

Tomorrow we will meet with the French Minister for National Education and Youth, Gabriel Attal. He wants to hear more about our work to support well-being and prevent bullying. We are very much looking forward to this, and we hope that France can use some of our experience - both from Free of  Bullying but also from our work for well-being in general.
