Visit to Avicenna Tajik State Medical University

The Crown Princess visits Avicenna Tajik State Medical University and have shown the university. During the visit, the Crown Princess greets students who will talk about their work in the health campaigns focusing on maternal and child health and vaccination.

10:00 – 11:00

Opening session of the Health Forum, where professors and students at the university take part.

Speeches by:

* Dr Nusratullo Salimzoda, Minister of Health and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan

* Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark

* Ms Zsuzsanna Jakab, WHO Regional Director for Europe


11:30 - 12:30

Visit Varzob Health Center (rural health center) and the launch of the immunization day

The Crown Princess observes work with vaccination program and has the opportunity to talk with representatives from the hospital, health workers, parents and their children.

14:00 –15:20

Visit to National Reproductive Health Center

The Crown Princess meets health workers and local clients at the centre.

15:30 – 16:50

Visit to National Taekwondo Federation to observe work within NTF and to discuss Gender based violence challenges

The Crown Princess visits the National Taekwondo Federation, which has launched initiatives to stop violence against women. During the visit, information is presented about the challenges in Tajikistan as well as various measures of information about violence prevention and reproductive health.

19:30 – 21:30

Reception by the WHO Regional Director for Europe Ms Zsuzsanna Jakab in honour of HRH Crown Princess Mary, Patron of WHO/Europe.

On 24 October 2014, the second day of her visit to Tajikistan and also World Polio Day, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark spoke to medical students at the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University in Dushanbe. She commended both the Government of Tajikistan and WHO on their collaboration and ongoing efforts to improve reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health in the country.

Referring to her visit the previous day to the Child Rehabilitation Centre in Dushanbe, where she met children with disabilities, their parents, and medical staff, the Crown Princess underlined the importance of strong national immunization programmes and for every individual to have access to immunization at every stage of life...
