LAUNCH OF CHRISTMAS SEAL 2015

H. M. The Queen and HRH The Crown Princess on Wednesday, 28th of October 2015 are present at the presentation of the Christmas Seal 2015 at Copenhagen Town Hall.

The Queen is the artist behind this year's Christmas Seal for Christmas Seal Foundation. The Queen has twice previously designed the Christmas Seal which also appeared as a motif on Christmas Seal twice.

In 1970, the then heir to the throne, Princess Margrethe, for the first time was the artist behind the year's Christmas Seal. The subject was called 'Christmas Preparations in Heaven' and imagined angels blowing instruments. As the Christmas Seal Foundation in 2003 launched the Christmas Seal number 100, the Queen was once again the artist behind the Christmas Seal. The Queen had illustrated various historical Christmas motifs, such as angels, elves and Christmas lights.

In 1942, the King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid's firstborn was two years old. To mark the occasion the then Princess Margrethe motif appeared on the Christmas Seal. The Queen was proclaimed regent after King Frederik IX's death in 1972, the same year was the new royal motif for that year's Christmas Seal.

The proceeds from sale of Christmas Seals goes to Denmark's four Christmas Seal Homes, where about 750 children each year take up residence. Here they get help to deal with problems such as bullying and loneliness.

The Crown Princess participates in the launch as patron of the Christmas Seal Foundation. Her Majesty and Crown Princess together reveal this year's Christmas Seal. The unveiling will take place in the Ballroom at the Copenhagen Town Hall, which in recent years has been the setting of the event. Christmas Seal 2015 can be purchased from 29 October.
