General news about F&M 2016

Recommended Posts

Frederik and Mary visited the Heartland Festival at Egeskov Castle today. The Count Couple Michael Ahlefeldt and Caroline Ahlefeldt owns the castle.

They also holidayed with F & M in Australia last year. Article with a few pictures.

http://www.fyens.dk/faaborg-midtfyn/Royalt-besoeg-Kronprinseparret-ankommer-til-Heartland/artikel/3015311

Thanks for the news

From an article in H&N, the photo they use is old and not much additional info,

One very small photo

"The Crown Prince Couple, who was invited to the Funen by Count Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille,

enjoyed not only the food and music, which among other things, was provided by Anne Linnet,

but also each other. They held each other and looked almost like any other couple who had made

their way out on a warm summer evening to enjoy each other company without children."

Well, at least Isabella was there. I think the Ahlefeldts have a couple of young daughters,

so she might have been with them. And Michael Ahlefeldt Laurvig is Vincent's godfather.

Perhaps the whole family stayed the night.

"The entire royal family appeared Sunday surprisingly to the festival 'Wood Stories' by Fændrikhus

in Gribskov. It's the north coast storytellers behind this weekend's story festival on the occasion of

the association's tenth anniversary. The whole weekend 19 storytellers from Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Sweden entertained with stories, legends, myths, fairy tales, anecdotes and stories.

The royals were represented by three generations as they sailed to Fændrikhus from Fredensborg in two ferries."

Hmmm....KDY has photos from last week which say it's the 'Wessel & Vetter Cup' arranged by the KDY ?

The Baltic Sea Challenge is, I think, something completely different.

" On the occasion of KDY 150th anniversary the club organizes this week Wessel & Vett Cup, where 45 classic 12mR, 8mR and 5.5mR races respectively, the Baltic Championships, European Championships and World Cup"

Yes. You are right The Baltic Sea Challenge primarily takes place in Finland. One wonders how the Daily Mail could make such a basic mistake?

They frequently make basic mistakes! Their pictures are usually great but the text often needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Yes, thank you. That certainly explains why I have read certain posts on other boards where they are referred to as the "Daily Fail".

Congratulations on your first post MaryKate. Welcome to the board. Enjoy!

Hi MaryKate and welcome from me too! I hope you keep posting and commenting.

DM has great photos but the articles.....:frazzled: and the info....I never read them myself.

This time, I think they got the wrong info somewhere else.

You are right, it has nothing to do with DM's "The Baltic Sea Challenge". I think the whole thing originally came from newmyroyals, but there is not much info there and they don't give any source for what they have.  I couldn't fit it anywhere, but instead searched around for "KDY!(Royal Danish yacht club) and "Skovshoved"! and stumbled on wesselvettcup.dk   and KDY's facebook page where they have some pictures of the race. Newmyroyals is probably Daily Mail's only source and DM then just decided from a google list what "Baltic Sea Challenge" supposed to be:-)

Anyway, the boats are beautyfull, here is a short video from the race.

Yesterday evening, Friday 9th, Frederik and Mary's brother, John Stuart Donaldson, privately attended a concert with the

Danish band Dizzy Mizz Lizzy at Tivoli. According to the article, Frederik is a long time fan and asked if he could meet

the band.

Mary's father John Donaldson and sister Jane are (still) in Denmark. We already know, that brother John

was in Denmark two weeks ago, when he attended a concert (post above this) with Frederik.

John's 75th birthday was on the 5th of this month and it was celebrated in Denmark by some of the Donaldson clan.

Yesterday, Queen Margrethe opened a new exhibition at Amalienborg museum and John and Jane attended with her.
