On the occasion of the city's 825-year city anniversary has Glostrup organized a series of activities to celebrate the city. One of these events is Glostrup Festival on Saturday, 27 August 2016, in which the Crown Princess is participating. The festival offers music, activities and stalls. The Crown Princess will, among other things view a demonstrations of karate and gymnastics on her tour of the festival site. The first time "Glostorp" is mentioned in writing is in a letter where Bishop Absalon donated some farms in "Glostorp" Soro Abbey. This letter can with uncertainty be dated to the years between 1186 and 1197. From that it has been decided to establish the city's "birth" of 1191, which is right in between the estimated dates. However, Glostrup Church dates back to around 1150, so we suspect that there has been a village already since that time.
