"HRH The Crown Princess and Development Minister Ulla Tørnæs visit Ethiopia

On 26 - 27 March, Her Royal Highness visits the Crown Princess and Minister for Development Cooperation Ulla Tørnæs Ethiopia.
The visit will focus on the UN World Goal 5 on gender equality and the rights and opportunities of women and girls.

Ethiopia is a changing country. The ambitious and broad reform agenda of the new Ethiopian government has also resonated significantly beyond its borders. With high ambitions on the gender equality agenda, the country's prime minister has set a new ministerial team with equal parts women and men and appointed a female president. With promises of democracy, peace and reconciliation, an uprising is set up with a former form of government in which basic rights have been suppressed for decades.

It is this positive development of Ethiopia that the Crown Princess and the Minister for Development Cooperation Ulla Tørnæs will witness through meetings with eg. female decision makers, opinion makers, business leaders and entrepreneurs.

The visit will also focus on the role of Ethiopia as a host country for one of Africa's largest refugee populations. The Crown Princess and the Minister of Development will visit a refugee reception center, a home for unaccompanied minors and a local school built in cooperation between host and refugee communities with Danish assistance.

In addition, the Minister of Development will visit a women's center for victims of trafficking in human beings, and she will have political discussions focusing on peace and stability, irregular migration and green transition."
