HRH THE CROWN PRINCE PARTICIPATes IN CROSS COUNTRY SKI EVENT
HRH The Crown Prince on Saturday, 19th of March, 2016 participates in the cross country ski event "Birkebeineren" in Norway.
It is the first time that the Crown Prince participates in the historic cross-country "Birkebeineren", which extends over 54 kilometers between Rena and Lillehammer in Norway. 2016 is the 78th time that the race takes place.
All participants carry a backpack weighing 3.5 kg, symbolizing the newborn prince Haakon Haakonsøn, who after his birth in 1204 was brought to safety during the then civil war.
