If I understand correctly Ayvee, the man in the red coat is the Chamberlain. It's possible the Crown Princely Couple had been interacting with him over the course of the day and so did not greet him as if for the first time in front of the cameras. That's just a guess.

That’s a very good explanation!  Very much like curtsying to QMII.  You only do it once upon seeing her but not each time you approach her.

  2. Does anyone know why Princess Mary didn’t shake hands with the guard when she entered the lobby unlike Princess Benedikte, Princess Marie and Queen Margrethe who did?  Also, Princess Benedikte, Prince Joachim and QMII after greeting the guard inspected the line of guards, but Prince Frederik didn’t (although he shook hands with the guard).  You can see videos on detdanskekongehus Instagram page by clicking Nytar 19/20 stories.  I thought it was very strange for the CPC to do things differently.

Sorry if guard is not the correct word.  It’s the man wearing red and standing by himself when you enter the lobby.

  3. Have any of our Danish members gone through the official website of The Mary Foundation:

    http://www.maryfonden.dk/

I am particularly interested in the section 'Om Mary Fonden'. Is there any information on why The Mary Foundation chose a butterfly as its logo? Why butterfly? I know Princess Mary seems to like butterflies - she's worn Marianne Dulong's necklaces and earrings with butterflies, a green chiffon dress with butterflies and a pair of wedges with butterflies. Obviously choosing a butterfly as her logo must mean something more other than the fact that she likes butterflies. Just wondering if this is mentioned on the official site.

The Mary Foundation impacts lives of people and hopefully, changes them for the better. Could this be the reason for a butterfly logo? A metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly? This is my best guess but perhaps it says it on the website.

    Thanks for the help.

    Best,

  4. I think this is very interesting- a great step for Mary- however I don't see how this is the same as Diana with the AIDS child Ayvee :hatoff:

The objective of The Mary Foundation is ‘to improve the lives of children, adults and families who as the result of their environment, heredity, illness or other circumstances find themselves socially isolated or excluded.

This statement showing the objective of the Mary Foundation simply brought back memories of Diana, Princess of Wales carrying a child stricken with AIDS during a visit to the USA. Back then, there was a lot of stigma about touching and hugging AIDS victims and Diana, with one gesture changed all this. There was a lot in the US press about this one small yet generous gesture.

Isn't that what the objective says - individuals because of their illness find themselves socially isolated? Hence, I am reminded of that one simple act Diana did to reach out to a child and tell the world that it's okay to hug someone with AIDS.

Perhaps the implementation of The Mary Foundation is different than Diana but the simple act of reaching out to people because of the stigma attach to their illness is the same.

I totally support Princess Mary in this huge endeavor.

  5. What great news! This is such a huge undertaking - representing the socially isolated. (This brings back memories of Princess Diana carrying a child infected with the AIDs virus during her visit to the USA.)

I am hoping this foundation is going to be an international cause but I do understand that it might be limited to Denmark, Greenland and the Faroese Islands. Time will tell when she presents the initiatives in 2008!
