The foundation and its funds were a gift The Crown Prince received from Danish-Americans as a 25th birthday present during The Crown Prince’s studies at Harvard University. In the evening, the Crown Prince Couple host a dinner for the board of directors and partners of the Crown Prince Frederik Foundation. Royal Run takes place in the cities Aalborg, Aarhus, Esbjerg, Odense and Copenhagen/Frederiksberg. Those interested can sign up for runs of two different distances, One Mile (1,609 km) and 10 km. The Crown Prince begins the day in Alborg by running in a One Mile race, and afterwards The Crown Prince continues on to Aarhus, Esbjerg and Odense, and will likewise run One Mile races in these places. The exhibition “Ralph Heimans Portraits” displays a substantial part of the artist’s works, which include a portrait of HRH The Crown Princess, members of the British royal family and international personalities. HRH The Crown Prince runs One Mile (1,609 km) in Aalborg, Aarhus, Esbjerg and Odense and concludes by running 10 km through Copenhagen and Frederiksberg’s streets. The Crown Prince will spend around one hour in each city and will, in addition to running, watch entertainment and greet the Danes who turn out. HRH The Crown Princess runs 10 km in Odense. Programme Aalborg 09.00 The Crown Prince runs One Mile in Aalborg. Upon arrival, The Crown Prince will be greeted at the Utzon Center by mayor Thomas Kastrup-Larsen and representatives from The Sports Confederation of Denmark and DGI. In Aalborg, there is a special focus on children and motion, and, after the run, The Crown Prince will watch a group of children take part in the DGI activity Happy Moves. Aarhus 10.30 The Crown Prince arrives in Aarhus between 10.30 and 11.00. The Crown Prince is welcomed by mayor Jacob Bundsgaard and two representatives from The Sports Confederation of Denmark and DGI. The Crown Prince will start both the 10 km run and the first One Mile run. When the two groups of runners have been sent off, The Crown Prince runs One Mile. The Crown Prince will be present when the first 10 km runners come in. Esbjerg 13.00 The Crown Prince arrives between 13.00 and 13.30 in Esbjerg, where mayor Jesper Frost Rasmussen and two representatives from The Sports Confederation of Denmark and DGI will receive him. At the welcoming ceremony, there will be a parachute jump, after which The Crown Prince runs One Mile. After his own run, The Crown Prince presents medals to selected runners and starts the 10 km run. Odense 16.00 The Crown Prince Couple are received by mayor Peter Rahbæk Juel and representatives from The Sports Confederation of Denmark and DGI. The Crown Princess will start the One Mile Run, in which The Crown Prince will participate. Afterwards, The Crown Prince starts the 10 km run, in which The Crown Princess will participate. In Odense, The Crown Prince will also visit the Runners’ Village. Copenhagen/Frederiksberg 18.00 The Crown Prince arrives at the starting area in Frederiksberg between 18.00 and 18.30. Here, The Crown Prince will be welcomed by Frederiksberg’s mayor Jørgen Glenthøj and Copenhagen’s Lord Mayor Frank Jensen as well as leaders of The Sports Confederation of Denmark and DGI, respectively.
