"The enormous interest in participating in the Royal Run Southern Jutland would not end when the nearly 17,000 first tickets went on sale and sold out in three days in November. And now the organizers are putting on another 1,750 tickets for sale, so Crown Prince Frederik ends up celebrating the Reunion with over 20,000 souvenirs at Pentecost next year.

"Per Hussmann, who explains the huge support behind Royal Run Southern Jutland with many things.
- I think it's a combination of the Crown Prince, the Reunion, the joy and the royalty, he says."

"In addition to being an invitation to exercise, Royal Run in Sønderborg is also an element of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Denmark's reunification with Southern Jutland. The Crown Prince's great-grandfather, King Christian X, became the symbol of the Reunion in 1920 when he rode across the old Danish / German border at Christiansfeld."

"The Crown Prince goes to Greenland to kick off Royal Run 2020 in Nuuk. Royal Run in Greenland takes place four days before Royal Run on Danish soil, namely on May 28.

In Nuuk, they are looking forward to getting the Royal Run to the city:
“The largest running event, the Royal Run, comes to Greenland. I look forward to seeing the largest human assembly in Greenland - it will be absolutely crazy. I hope it can help create even more interest in running and becoming more active in everyday life, ”says race organizer Kim Godtfredsen."

The annual Copenhagen Marathon is cancelled due to the corona crisis. Not postphoned, but cancelled. It should have been held 16. May.

So I start to worry about Royal Run 2020 this year. It is on 2. June, so still some time. I hope. It is such a wonderful event!

Royal Run postponed until 6. September, 30 August in Nuuk, Greenland

http://kongehuset.dk/nyheder/royal-run-flyttes-til-efteraaret

"We have all been looking forward to lacing up the running shoes for the Royal Run. However, due to the current situation with COVID-19 / coronavirus,

we unfortunately have to postpone this year's running party to September 6 in Denmark and August 30 in Greenland.

We would like to encourage all people who run - young and old - to maintain the joy and enthusiasm for exercise, to follow the recommendations of the
authorities and to be patient with patience.
We all hope that the Royal Run can become a major gathering point after the summer holidays, and that until then everyone is looking after themselves -
and each other."

Royal Run postponed until 6. September, 30 August in Nuuk, Greenland

"Because of the spread of coronavirus/COVID-19, Royal Run 2020 is cancelled. At the same time, Royal Run 2021 is planned to take place on 24 May (Whit Monday) across Denmark and on 17 May in Nuuk, Greenland.

Due to the spread of coronavirus/COVID-19 and the consequences of this for society, the 2020 edition of Royal Run was first postponed from June until September. But now a unanimous steering group has decided that Royal Run has to be completely cancelled.

The year’s Royal Run would have been the third edition of the event, which last year got more than 80,000 Danes to lace up their running shoes. In connection with the cancellation, His Royal Highness The Crown Prince says:

“Royal Run has, in just a few years, developed into a day with celebration, colors and, above all, a fantastic running fellowship across the country. Thousands of people have shown their support, both as participants and as spectators – it has been a true national celebration. But to gather together so many people at the beginning of September this year no longer appears to be realistic. Royal Run will, quite simply, not be able to be held in the spirit that has characterized the run – a gathering point for Danes across all ages, across the kingdom.

I will instead, together with my family, look forward to Whitsuntide 2021, when hopefully we can gather once again for a Royal Run as we know it. Until then, I hope that all will maintain the joy through running and physical exercise.”

Several years ago, The Crown Prince came up with the idea for Royal Run in connection with his 50th birthday. Royal Run is not a classic race that emphasizes finishing times. It is possible both to run and walk all of the distances, and there are special miles for families that want to push the baby carriage along the route. Royal Run is arranged by the organization “Bevæg dig for livet” in a collaboration between The National Olympic Committee & Sports Confederation of Denmark, DGI and the Danish Athletics Federation."
