In 2019, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) hosted the Global Refugee Forum for the first time. Here, among others, government representatives, business leaders and civil society from all over the world gathered to find solutions to the global refugee situation. The Global Refugee Forum aimed, among other things, to follow up on the Global Compact on Refugees, which was adopted in December 2018 by the UN General Assembly.

The virtual event marks the one-year anniversary of the Global Refugee Forum and the two-years anniversary of the Global Compact on Refugees. The world is witnessing the largest youth generation in history and the highest number of young people in displacement.

The event will discuss how to better support young people’s potential in becoming a transformative force. This is paramount to our collective commitment to leave no one behind.

HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, DRC Patron, will open the event featuring the following speakers:

• Minister of Youth, Jordan, H.E. Mohammad F. Nabulsi
• UNHCR, Assistant High Commissioner for Protection, Ms Gillian Triggs
• Founder of I-Profile and HOPE HUB in Uganda, Ms Aisha Ali Mohamood
• Head of Department for Humanitarian Action, Civil Society and Engagement, Danish Ministry
of Foreign Affairs, Ms Mette Thygesen
• Senior Vice President, Novo Nordisk Foundation, Ms Hanna Line Jakobsen
• Medical student, Hashemite University of Jordan (supported through UNHCR’s DAFI
programme), Mr Shahem Ayman Al Boni
• DRC Secretary General, Ms Charlotte Slente
