Thank you, commoner :rose:

Many of the visits to Africa have been reported after the fact.

From the President's office:

"Denmark-Burkina Faso: exchanges for a strengthening of cooperation (Ouagadougou, October 29, 2021). The President of Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, received in morning audience Her Royal Highness, Countess of Monpezat, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, and Danish Minister for International Development Flemming Moller Mortensen. Accompanied by a large delegation, the hosts of the day came to talk about bilateral cooperation and development with the Head of State. Burkina Faso and the Kingdom of Denmark have maintained cooperative relations since 1973."

So she was there for at least a couple of days.  Lovely photos of her.

From the BB article via Google translate:

After a few important days in Burkina Faso with a permanent base in the capital Ouagadougou on Friday night, the Crown Princess set course for Europe and Denmark.

Secret journey

The business trip with full focus on, among other things, Danish development assistance, human rights and assistance to women who are refugees in their own country or internally displaced persons, was thus not widely announced to the public via official channels.

Denmark makes a difference

During the days in Burkina Faso, Crown Princess Mary saw with her own eyes how big a difference it makes for Denmark and international organizations such as the UN via UNFPA to start projects with, for example, new health centers and mobile health clinics.

"Minister for Development Cooperation Flemming Møller Mortensen has visited the West African country of Burkina Faso together with Crown Princess Mary.

They are on their way home late Friday night after landing (added: In Burkina Faso) late Wednesday night. During the visit, women's and girls' rights have been on the agenda,

which according to Flemming Møller Mortensen has been a wish on the part of both him and the Crown Princess."

HRH The Crown Princess paid a visit in Burkina Faso together with minister for development cooperation Flemming Møller Mortensen the days of 27-29 October 2021.
The purpose of the trip was to focus on the health and rights of girls and women in a region characterized by poverty, turmoil and climate change.

Burkina Faso, which is one of the world’s most impoverished countries, lies in the heart of the Sahel region in West Africa. The Crown Princess last visited the country five years ago, and, in the visit just completed, Her Royal Highness could see how the already difficult living conditions have further been put under pressure by climate change and the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Conflict, insecurity and climate change have resulted in one of the world’s fastest growing displacement crises in Burkina Faso, which means that 1.4 million people – equivalent to 7% of the population – live as internally displaced persons in the country.

Flemming Møller Mortensen:

Touching visit to Burkina Faso Flag of Burkina Faso with HRH The Crown Princess. It makes a huge impression to meet passionate souls who put so much effort into making a positive difference. For example, the midwives on a motorcycle who go out into the countryside with vital help for women and girls

Last part: "Respect for Mary's work in Africa. But one wonders how long it will be safe for her to continue her travels? Unfortunately, I do not think the answer is uplifting."

It's feels a bit odd to be worried about someone you don't know....I wish she would stay away of at least some parts of Africa.
