Crown Princely Couple visits Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 27 - 28 September
Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince and Crown Princess, at the invitation of Minister Erwin Sellering will make an official visit to Germany's north-eastern state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on 27 - 28 September 2010, where the Crown Princely Couple visit the state capital Schwerin as well as the towns of Stralsund, Rostock and Güstrow.
Background to the Crown Princely Couple's visit to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is the neighborhood program 're: connect', which aims to restore and enhance the historically close cultural ties between Denmark and the German state (former GDR). Read more about re: connect, which was founded at the initiative of the Royal Danish Embassy in 2008.
Crown Princely Couple will attend during the visit excerpts of the Danish Culture Programme which have been developed in a collaboration between the Royal Danish Embassy in Berlin and the local German institutions. Culture program presents one of Denmark's greatest cultural treasures of porcelain Flora Danica, at Staatliches Museum Schwerin and Danish children's jazz concert in Rostock. In addition, the royal visitors will be shown some of the innovative German-Danish oceanic research institute projects, a cooperative effort from both sides of the Baltic Sea.
The Crown Princely Couple will be received by Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Minister Erwin Sellering and his wife, who will accompany them during the entire visit. The Crown Princely Couple will also be accompanied by Danish Minister for Interior and Health, Bertel Haarder.
