The Crown Prince Couple and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visit UNICEF

On 2nd November 2011 Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess will pay a visit at UNICEF Supply Division center together with Their Royal Highnesses Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, and the Duchess of Cambridge to view the effort to distribute emergency food and medical supplies to East Africa.

During the engagement, the Crown Prince Couple and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will receive a briefing from UNICEF staff about the situation in East Africa, before touring the supply division floor, where they will be invited to pack boxes of supplies to send to East Africa, meet staff, and view displays of items supplied by UNICEF to those in need in East Africa.

The severe food shortages are affecting more than 13 million people, and currently some 320,000 children are suffering from severe acute malnutrition and are at imminent risk of death without immediate assistance. More areas in East Africa are expected to be declared as 'in famine' over the next few months.

Prior to the visit at UNICEF the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess will host a private lunch for the Duke and Duchess at Frederik VIII's Palace, Amalienborg.
