The Crown Princess, together with the Trade and Development Minister Mogens Jensen, makes a visit to South Africa on 2nd-5th November 2014.
The visit to South Africa will focus particularly on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) - the right to decide over one's own body, including to choose when to have children, whether to use contraception and access to food under proper conditions. In addition, the visit will strengthen the commercial ties between Denmark and South Africa, as South Africa is an important growth market for Danish businesses.
The Crown Princess participates in the continuation of the long standing global advocacy for sexual and reproductive health and rights, among other things, as a member of the High Level Task Force on ICPD (International Conference on Population and Development) and in connection with the Crown Princess's patronage of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA).
The Crown Princess and Trade and Development Minister will include visiting a township in Cape Town and meet some of the people who work to make life worth living for as many as possible of the third of young mothers who have HIV in South Africa. There will also be visits to a clinic that offers support to victims of gender-based violence, among other things, by looking at how the private sector helps support victims of violence.
The Crown Princess and Trade and Development Minister during the visit will also encourage commercial cooperation between Denmark and South Africa by focusing on Danish strengths and skills in areas such as the wind energy sector and Danish design and architecture.
