Denmark's Collection 2010
Saturday 30 January 2010, 7:00pm
TRH The Crown Prince and the Crown Princess, as patrons of Danmarks Collection 2010, make a visit at the call centre for the collection in Frederiksberg.
The theme for this year's collection is "Africa's women - Africa's future"
DR and 12 humanitarian organizations working together on Denmark's Collection 2010, have today decided that the collection on 30 January will also include assistance to Haiti.
This means that Denmark's Collection 2010 benefits earthquake victims in Haiti and also the original long-term project to ensure women in Africa a better future.
Denmark's Collection 2010 has been underway for over a half year, and work to inform the collection's goals for African women have been in full swing during that time.
"In light of the enormous devastation that has hit Haiti, we find it most appropriate to combine the two purposes in a single collection. We believe that the Danes have both the resources and the understanding that there should be room to address both the acute needs in relation to sudden disasters - and to ensure durable solutions for the part of the world where people are not so well equipped with assets as we are at home. And we very much hope that the Danes will once again support the collection," says spokesman for Denmark's Collection, Mogens Damgaard.
The collection is already underway and it is possible to support via phone, text messaging and online donations.
