You are correct! Just checked when King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands visited Sweden. The couple paid courtesy visits to political leaders as well.

WOW! Queen Mary was included in the meetings with government leaders. Usually, it is the person who is the reigning King or Queen who does these visits alone, and not with consort.

I agree..underwhelming. She can do so much better. First state visit...was looking for a new outfit with color especially with Queen Silvia in red and Crown Princess Victoria in the pink/rose. Mary 'disappears' IMO. Also, don't like the hat. But, she looks appropriate enough.

Thanks Izzieq! I was just coming back to say that I saw him wearing the star of the Swedish order which was very prominently displayed as the first star on his military uniform. By the way...well done King Frederik on his speech! Fantastic performance! Also saw Queen Mary matching King Frederik's military colors in navy and white! The SVT coverage was slightly better indoors!

Question....Shouldn't King Frederik be wearing his Swedish order with his military uniform?

Sorry to say...but this link is atrocious! Keeps having technical difficulties and is blacking out! I missed Frederik and Mary's arrival! So disappointed!

I do realize that the portrait is for government buildings, embassies, official websites and such.... I just think she could have done without the necklace and worn it some other time. The high neck dress does the necklace no favors. I appreciate the modesty of the dress as this portrait will be used in Denmark's embassies in, for example Muslim and other conservative countries. I just expected more for their first official portrait as King and Queen of Denmark as this portrait looks the same as the ones they have done before as the CP Couple.

Good things first: The emeralds are fantastic with Queen Mary's hair color. Also, love the the new RFO with that fabulous HUGE diamond frame! Gorgeous and luxurious dark green lace and velvet dress. Disappointments: Wrong dress for this portrait...why wear a dress with a high lace collar with such a majestic and fabulous necklace? Why hasn't Queen Mary been given the Order of Dannegborg? The photos appear stiff.

Why does Federik stand like that? Rhetorical question of course..he has always stood like that. But now as a king, it looks undignified. He should really make more of an effort, especially in historical photos such as these.

I wish King Frederik X looked as good in suits and black tie as he does in military uniform. When dressed in military uniform, he gives a sense of gravitas as king. Not so much in suits that still appear to be badly fitted.

Fantastic church! I don't mean to be morbid but could this visit also have been to chose their future burial place? As the current King and Queen, those types of plans have to be made years in advance. I always picture Frederik and his consort being buried in the same location as his grandfather and grandmother....outside of the church.

Seriously?! On the first official visit as king his staff does this?! How unprofessional!
