"HRH The Crown Princess visits Rigshospitalet's Center for Heart, Vascular, Lung and Infectious Diseases

Here, among other things, the Crown Princess will hear about how the hospital works to make heart surgery more gentle for patients.

Chief physician and heart surgeon Christian Carranza of the Center for Cardiovascular, Lung and Infectious Diseases demonstrates for H.R.H. The Crown Princess how to use an artificial torso to practice surgery through small openings in the skin. The torso is a simulator from the Netherlands that can give surgeons feedback on how accurately the thread is put when the surgeon sews.

The Crown Princess visits Rigshospitalet in her capacity as patron of the Heart Association, which financially supports the hospital's research in, among other things, gentle-like surgery. The Heart Association chairman, Professor Christian Hassager, is the chief physician at the National Hospital and will accompany the Crown Princess during the visit."
