Frederik VIII Palace, Amalienborg. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Danish Red Cross has today awarded His Majesty the King the organization's highest certificate of honor, the Danish Red Cross' Badge of Honor. The badge of honor is usually awarded to former presidents of the Red Cross, but the honor also fell in its time to the King's father, Prince Henrik. It was the President of the Danish Red Cross Jette Runchel and Secretary General Anders Ladekarl, who earlier today handed the badge of honor to the King in Frederick VIII's Palace in Amalienborg. At the same occasion, the President and the Secretary-General thanked His Majesty for his support to the organization's helpful work at home and abroad over the years. The Queen was today briefed on the status of maternal mortality at a meeting with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Danish organisation Maternity Foundation. Among other things, it was discussed how partnerships, innovative approaches and digital solutions can contribute to women, wherever they live, have access to safe pregnancy and childbirth. Today the Queen received Director General of the United Nations Environment Organization (UNEP), Inger Andersen, who briefed on UNEP's work to promote biodiversity and nature protection globally. At the meeting, Her Majesty received, among other things, a briefing about this year's UN Environment Assembly, UNEA, which brings together world environment ministers every two years in Nairobi, Kenya. Paulamary Posted March 21 Author Report Share Posted March 21 Earlier today, His Majesty The King received His Excellency Sultan al-Jaber, the United Arab Emirates Minister for Industry and President of the just concluded COP28 in Dubai. The reception took place in Frederick VIII's Palace in Amalienborg, and Sultan al-Jaber was accompanied by Minister of Culture Jakob Engel-Schmidt. As the Crown Prince, His Majesty participated in the COP28 climate conference in December 2023. Every year, the UN gathers world leaders and central players on the climate front to establish ambitions and responsibilities for global climate efforts. During the visit to Dubai, the King, together with Danish ministers and companies, represented Denmark and the country's role in the fight to achieve the UN climate goals. Sultan al-Jaber has recently visited Denmark in connection with the holding of the Copenhagen Climate Ministerial, which is being held at Marienlyst with Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Dan Jørgensen as host.
