Visit to Brussels for opening of Denmark's Presidency of EU26 January 2012, 4:45pm
TRH The Crown Prince and Crown Princess visit EU Council Building Justus Lipsius in Brussels and participate in the official opening concert on the occasion of Denmark's takeover of EU Presidency.
Thursday, 26 January 2012 marks the official start date in Brussels of Denmark assuming the presidency of the European Union.
The (Danish) Crown Princely Couple is present at the opening concert, which also has the participation of the Belgian Crown Princely Couple.
The concert includes entertainment by the DR Big Band accompanied by vocal soloist Sinne Eeg and trumpet soloist Gerard Presencer. Europe Minister Nicolai Wammen makes the welcome address.
Earlier in the day the Crown Princely Couple will visit the Danish exhibition in the Council building Justus Lipsius, which the rotating presidency traditionally decorates during the six months as President of the Council. The exhibition displays a mix of established design icons and pieces by the youngest generation of Danish artists.
